The EtherNet/IP for Industrial Automation Control Systems class covers the design and troubleshooting of an EtherNet/IP network in a Logix based control system including fundamentals of EtherNet, design of media and infrastructure, capacity calculations and configuration of Stratix switches. The student will progress through various network scenarios from a simple unmanaged star, a Device Level Ring, multiple VLAN’s, VLAN trunking, inter-VLAN routing, Network Address Translation (NAT), and DHCP. The importance and use of techniques for segmenting an EtherNet/IP network will be discussed. The class will also cover various techniques for troubleshooting an EtherNet/IP network. No experience with EtherNet/IP networking is expected, but some familiarity with Windows, RSLogix 5000 and RSLinx is recommended.
